Loving Your Skin 101

Do you know your skin type? To love yourself you gotta love your skin. And you can’t do that if you don’t know what skin type you’ve got. Here’s the 411.

1. Dry Skin
Results from too little production of sebum, the skin’s natural oil. As a result dry skin develops fine lines and wrinkles faster, because there isn’t enough oil production and moisture to keep the skin supple and vibrant.
  • Skin usually feels tight
  • May be flakey
  • Pores almost unnoticeable
  • Not oily, if you wipe your skin with tissue it comes off with very little or no oil.

2. Oily Skin
Oily skin is (obviously!) caused by excessive production of sebum. All this oil ends up blocking the pores, resulting in frequent breakouts.
  • Visibly shiny
  • If you wipe your face with tissue it comes off oily
  • Pores are usually visible (or large)
  • Frequent breakouts

3. Combination Skin
As the name suggests, this skin type combines dry skin and oily skin. If you have combination skin your T-zone (area comprising the forehead and nose) is usually oily, while the cheeks are dry, making it rather complicated to manage.
  • Certain areas of the skin are dry, others oily.
  • Occasional breakouts
  • Larger than normal pores especially on/around the nose
4. Normal Skin a.k.a Gifted by Nature
People in this category know not of breakouts or any other skin frustrations. Aren't you the lucky ones! Normal skin needs regular care too, though, to be kept that way because skin type changes with age, and environmental exposure.
  • Skin has small pores
  • Little or no breakouts
  • Skin doesn't feel dry and tight

Now that you know what type of skin you've got you’re one step closer to giving it the TLC it needs. Fab, Fun, Life will be bringing you some tips on the best skin care regimen for your skin type, and then some.

Au revoir! Much Love,
